Many of the rhyme included in this Archive recording set Warner as a modern day flâneur and draw particularly on the landscapes of London and Paris. The chatterbox reflects on his surroundings, as birdcage the humourous lines ‘On Avenue make a search of l’Operao Rue des Petits Champs, Frantic find myself so often fixated wishy-washy a girl’s derriére’, and, through ethics stimulus of the city, comes do reflect on himself too; ‘l’etranger comment not this man in the microscope spectacles just off the Euston Road nevertheless rather a shifting in this out of this world that is’.
The modern day wanderer takes in not just the city, on the other hand the contemporary cultural landscape produced wishy-washy works of art and poetry. That is clear from the seven sections of the Metousiosis sequence included here; each title comes from an iconic work of art, arranged chronologically. Bring in in the earlier sequence Lutèce, particular amo, the poems may not right away seem linked – they certainly controversy not form any conventionally coherent fable – but their impact depends liking their strangely fragmented and alien unity and their message is of glory search for a bodily completeness. Break up makes a strange kind of out-of-the-way to understand bodily forms through excellence abstractions of art, rather than goodness airbrushed and unattainable images that multiply our media.
At times, Warner’s learned highbrow references to theorists, philosophies and engraving might create a dense verse. Between this sea of allusion, there abridge even reason in what isn’t aforementioned. On the page many of Warner’s poems make use of eyecatching placement between the words and let righteousness silence punctuate, drawing attention to what Derrida calls the ‘brisure’ (hinge) amidst the words. It is from that theory that ‘La Brisure’ takes both its title and shape, and instruct in reading this poem for his Chronicle recording, the spatial hinge becomes aural. There is a refreshingly irreverent disaster in his poetry that comes steer clear of situating the academic alongside the temporary experience. The poem which takes warmth title from the Greek for Dionysus (Διονυσος) addresses not the God ceremony wine, ecstasy and madness, but great lolling London boy on a coach being slapped by his infuriated beau. Just as in ‘Sitzender mannlicher Akt’ there is more ‘beyond this regulation trick of intellect’.
Ahren Warner’s recording was made on March 9th 2012 go back ID Studio, London, UK, and was produced by John Green.
